Marcus attending a neighbor’s birthday party.
Mondays and Uphills
The just concluded long weekend due to the holy week was worth it. Didn’t get us far from home but it gave me a chance to just bond with wifey and Marcus. This video of the goats playing around and showing off to Marcus was captured on a Good Friday at the first stopover on our attempt to get closer to Mount Makiling. We live nearby so no big deal but take note that Marcus is in a wheelchair.

Mount Makiling is one of the regular Holy Week destinations for those who want to make their own sacrifices or for mountaineers who want to climb something challenging but not far from the city. The last time I was up there was about 20 years ago before I got married and when a good stretch of the road to the mountain wasn’t paved yet. Now it’s a bit wheelchair-friendly.

Next time we will try farther. And yes, next time we’ll wear something warmer.

Goodbye Old Pal
After several attempts to sell the bike and ditching online hagglers, I found one whom I finally sold my bike to. It wasn’t the price I wanted to but to learn it’s going to be used by an excited young boy seems worth the wait. So there goes a significant piece from my young, free, and reckless days. BMX bike no more.

Colorful Weekend
Summer is here indeed and my in-laws held the annual outing courtesy of a birthday celebrator. This time the venue is barely half a kilometer away so pool exposure was longer than usual.

After changing from one floater to another, Marcus gathered confidence to once again try his vest. Here’s a clip.

Wait. Let me correct myself. The most hated color would be gold. Got Marcus an Xbox Live Gold prepaid card a day before the outing and as of this writing, Monday, we can’t still make it work. We suspect it has something to do with our internet service. I suspect it was because I bought it the same day that freaky earthquake struck. We thought it’s my Xbox live account being suspended due to bad credit. My paranoia. Anyway, we had someone try activating it from the US but same error is encountered. My apologies for making your dogs’ late noon run getting delayed. I hope this gets resolved soon or that’s P2K from Marcus’ coin back going down the drain.

160-pound Run in Pictures
So I got tagged on Facebook during the recent 3K fun run.

Credit for the first two image goes to those who shot it during the event. Thanks!

Green and Go
So apparently the continuing number of clueless drivers falling victim to the Nuvali trap, plus maybe the accompanying rude honking from those queueing behind, has gotten the attention of whoever are in charge of its traffic management systems. The other night I noticed that they modified the traffic light configuration that would now allow a stress-free drive to the famous Nuvali lake.
Drivers turning left from Nuvali Boulevard to Evozone Avenue now face a green light instead of the previous red which in effect eliminates countless moments of embarrassment for those stuck confused in the middle of the channelization islands. Good job. Problem solved, yes? Not quite.
The ‘should I stay or should I go’ dilemma now has new owners. This time the unfortunate drivers are those exiting the Solenad 2 area as they would be looking up at one red light and a green light at the same time at some point of the traffic signal sequence. These lights were once in synced but in an attempt to resolve the original Nuvali trap the traffic admin inadvertently caused another. So how to go about this? That closest light in front of you is your signal. Pay attention to it if you’re the first at the intersection and please be considerate if you are behind one confused guy. Don’t honk if you can help it.

After more than five years of observing people sweat it out in Nuvali, I finally got the chance to run in here. This Friday I found myself in a 3K fun run around the Nuvali lake as our company kicks off its annual sports activities. It was a run against all odds but it was one good run. This event made me realize that I could actually run coming from a night shift and while nursing a leg injury which I got from my last run in February. If or when my leg improves, I would surely do another post graveyard shift run soon.

Last Smock
So it’s been eight years since I found myself wearing an antistatic smock. This room in the picture is gone, goner than any structure on Marcus’ Fallout game. Retrenchment breaks buildings apart faster than nukes, huh?
Incidentally, I’m still into my 2008 posts migration and one I’ve already inserted the name Intel which I once held back to be discreet about some topics. Now all those are basically declassified.

Any break is routine is always welcome. Like Saturday’s. More than a month ago I seem to have injured my left leg having started running cold. I had it massaged once but the pain seems to linger although not as much. My wife suspects it’s something to do with uric acidicity, I think it’s about my 10 pounds excess weight. So yesterday I had it massaged again this time in a place that reminds me of no spa but of my old bed space days. Surprisingly, my co-worker who moonlights as a massage therapist can do better service than most I’ve had. Hope to get back to running again in a few weeks.
