I’m Cris Nacionales, married and a father of one very active boy to whom this blog is named after. I have been blogging since 2007 after my wife – my number one fan, reader and critic – encouraged and inspired me to finally start writing (before the blog, she gave me a Purpose-Driven Life Journal which I tried filling in). Likewise, I also find it funny that one of my inspirations came from an entry neither from a literature-related forum nor a blog, but from a flight simulators enthusiast group’s forum – Philskies.net – where one of its pioneer members, Tonet, had his well-written quest to get his private pilot’s license. Tonet’s site is among my top blogs list.
My first blog was made using Blogger.com and soon enough I discovered the convenience and feature of WordPress.COM (not to be mistaken with .ORG). Both Blogger.com and WordPress.com site were named Killing Time is Blogging Time because back then I only post blogs during my free times and also only when our then dial-up internet connection allows. With Marcus’ arrival to our lives, I decided to get rid of the negative connotation, so it’s bye bye Killing Time…, hello Marcus Can Blog.
As much as I’d like to be one good parent though, I realized long time ago that my favorites posts were done when I was under the influence of alcohol and which I later found out that it has some scientific backing and it is related somehow to the four brain wave states (Beta, Alpha, Theta and Delta). So I’d say that I do Drink and Blog. Dont worry Marcus doesn’t. Hahaha.
My blog covers almost everything under the sun (pardon the cliche) but of course within the bounds of my own blogging ethics that I (try to) follow:
-
Always ask permission to use materials such as images, videos, articles whenever required and possible;
-
Always recognize, attribute owners of such materials within the post.
-
Avoid unnecessary and irrational ranting.
-
Avoid generalization (e.g., avoid calling all politicians as corrupt, all jeepney drivers as irresponsible, etc.)
-
No discrimination
-
No pornograhpic content.
-
No plagiarism
Since then, I’ve blogged more often than before; that’s even before I became a full time bum – which is now. I’m also glad that even though my blog traffic isn’t quite at par with other bloggers, at least I have a steady following and these people are what inspires (and pressure, hahaha) me to do better with each blog.
Recently, I discovered the benefits of using Twitter and TweetDeck, and one of it being a great medium where I can do short blogs (also known as micro-blog) that may either be left as it is – as just a 140 character blog – or it may also serve as just a draft of ideas that I may later expound to a lengthy post (which I’m fond of).
These Tweets (Twitter entries) are now integrated to my blog through a widget so that those dropping by my site may also read it without having to sign-up with Twitter and/or having to download its TweetDeck application. And just in case I don’t have a new blog post, most likely I’m more in the mood of doing Tweets (or that I’m running after Marcus), so please check this site’s side bar to read it.
Enough has been said I guess. So before you get to read my nauseating blogs (hahaha) I’d love to receive comments and criticisms of my posts (or the whole blog site) and I’d love to reply back as soon as I read them. Happy reading.
