Marcus and Mossimo

It was a couple of weeks ago when mommy received the invitation. I’m to attend a casting call of some apparel company which I’m not so familiar with. Anyway, I felt there was excitement at home when that email arrived because she forwarded it to daddy in no time. Daddy was in school – it’s his second STRAMA class so I know he must be excited as well.

I knew somehow that today is that D-day or shall I call M-day, maybe M for Mossimo, maybe for Marcus and who knows it may even stand for mommy. Whatever it stands for we headed to Festival Mall just before lunch (I’m surprised mommy and daddy weren’t complaining of being hungry, I knew they had some friends and food last night).

The area of the mall where we are supposed to be in was packed when we arrived. It was a sight of anxious parents and restless kids. A few seconds later I was eager to see the places I never get tired visiting whenever I’m there – I became as fidgety as the other kids were. Mom told me to stay put first; she said she’ll be doing some registration. So we stayed put. At least for a sec and then daddy and I were on our way out of the disorienting and discouraging queue. We left mommy.
Time dragged on as if it was a setting in a cartoon show wherein everything come to a standstill (like when Dibo stopped the sun from setting). Lunch time came and mommy was still in the line together with other parents holding some 3-digit numbers. Mommy’s number starts with a 5 and ends with an 8. I can only count 1-4 but I know its way above 5. I even think that the kids on my Baby Einstein’s video haven’t counted that much so I know it’s a long way to go.

After mommy completed her third orbit of the area, she finally changed my clothes into something comfy – I was in some short and shirt smelling as if both haven’t gone into our noisy washing machine…but I like it anyway. By the way, those shoes were supposed to be my favorite Spongebob design but mommy and daddy got the wrong size when they bought it one day without me. Mommy whispered that daddy was stuffed with an expensive meat when he decided it fits. Few days later, he had it replaced but this time with Diego. I like Diego, daddy said he’s a great UFC fighter…
Finally, mommy reached “her goal.” She said that in a few minutes I’ll be in front of some flashing objects. I like flashes so much that I smile when I see flashes – and it need not come from a camera. But not when I’m sleepy. I get grumpy when I’m sleepy. And I don’t follow instructions – like not picking my nose in public.

Good thing that the folks from Mossimo know kids a lot. In fact, they advised mommy and other parents, ahead of time, to bring their kid’s favorite toy to keep them active while standing in front of the flashing objects. I think I heard them calling it photo shoots. So mommy brought my ever trusty Spongebob. It’s really my favorite that last week I think I overheard daddy telling mommy, “So in here, that’s his Lotso.” (I don’t know who Lotso is but I know heard the name after mommy and daddy processed something from a government office, again without me.) Bad news is that I’m so comfortable being with Spongebob that he always puts me to sleep.

Now here’s mommy and I. That back draft on my right is where they make kids like me stand and smile (and after the organizers made their parents stand in line for 3 hours or so)….and yes, in front of the flashing objects. Oh, if you haven’t noticed that’s Spongebob crushed between us. What happened next is history – the fall of mommy’s quest to make me stand and smile in front of the weird black umbrellas and oversized camera lenses.
