Parent’s Day Out

Today wifey and I mark another milestone in our married life. Today’s our 11th wedding anniversary and we decided to celebrate it unlike our previous anniversaries – albeit in a simple yet different way. Our destination – the Bonifacio High Street. Arriving there before noontime with majority of the stores not available yet for window shopping, we decided to scout for a place where to eat. With us being fast food junkies, the sight of Brother’s Burger was tempting but wanting to eat where we’ve never been before, we found ourselves in front of Texas Roadhouse Grill eagerly browsing thru its menu.

With just a few more flick of the menu’s pages, I set my eye on their Flat Iron Steak.

Wifey waited for us to be seated before she settled with what the waitress suggested as being one of their house specialties – Shrimp and Salmon Skewers. I also agree, it was a good choice. It tastes well with beer.
Stuffed with what we just had, we passed on their desserts no matter how appealing they were…

…but our sweet tooth found its way a few blocks away later – inside Hobbes and Landes.

They say that yoghurt is good for our health and that it is 98% fat-free but there’s something in me that says it’s a fallacy. I indulged in one anyhow. Namit.

To complete our “unique” date, instead of going to Glorietta cinemas for a movie, we agreed to watch it in the nearby Market Market. We lined up at the ticket counter with two movie choices in mind, Toy Story 3 or Knight and Day. But with the absence of Marcus (who was left home with our ever helpful babysitter neighbor), we got tickets for the latter. Honestly, I was excited but still got myself an espresso from a nearby vendo bracing for what could be a snooze fest, yet a snooze fest that didn’t come…to my utter delight.
Knight and Day definitely made our day. I can’t believe that after my recent disappointments with Hollywood movies for failing to deliver something entertaining and convincing, I surprised my own self with how I got so fascinated by this latest movie. Don’t get me wrong but it’s got all the stunts that the Mythbusters can mark as busted anytime, not to mention, easily.
How can I not take notice of how the actor sprayed bullets from a submachine gun…using both hands at the same time.
How can I not raise an eyebrow when the actress straddled backwards while on a motorcycle with the actor during a high-speed chase…and she was suddenly shooting guns and dodging bullets as if one she’s one coming from the Matrix.
How can I forget Jamie & Adam when they said that it is impossible for one to shoot at a car’s fuel tank…and make it explode just by doing so?
How can I not question the integrity of the director (and his team) when he made the actor single-handedly defeat the villains, remained un-hit by bullets coming from all directions, and even made him to romance the actress while engaged in a fierce firefight?
I know, it’s just incredible right? However, I really don’t care how many more I can pinpoint and name as cheap and cheesy shots, but for me a movie with Tom Cruise and a sexy Cameron Diaz is proof enough to say that not all Hollywood movies are made equal. And yes, I may be a biased movie critic after all, so sue me.
