I Love Hospitals

Just like in any other situation, while being in a hospital you always have 2 choices – maintain a positive outlook or go down with the emotions surrounding you. I choose the former. So what’s there to love in dreary hospitals anyway? Here’s my top 10:
- UHF TV. Although the room (and that’s their suite!) we got has no cable, surprisingly, I enjoyed watching some of the programs shown through the UHF channels. In fact, I got entertained watching the 700 Club’s sports while at the same time fascinated how they can talk about Parkour and God at one time.
- Free Food. So it must be true that when in dire situation, and especially when hunger strikes, anything that’s offered free (i.e.. food) is heaven sent. I still would avoid fish though – especially pale bangus.
- Free Air-conditioning. With the punishing El Nino heat, being inside a 24/7 air-conditioned room is something others will definitely envy. Yes, you paid for it, but yes, some people would love to be in your shoes just for that.
- No Wi-Fi. For busy people needing a break, this means only one thing – a good excuse to stay away from work. How easy & guiltless it is to say, “Boss, wala kasing connection sa ospital…at todo bantay ako sa pasyente namin.” Naks. Pat at the back.
- Horror stories. Yes, you read it right. This is a plus for me. When bored, one can just step out of the room, stare at the empty and dark corridor ahead and bingo! an instant horror movie fix. A lonesome midnight elevator ride is of course highly recommended.
- Nurses. Should I explain?
- Mechanical beds. When all else fail, this is one good form of entertainment and exercise. How much calories will it take to crank it up and down?
- Dextrose drip. If one is keen, or again bored, enough, this too is one form of entertainment. It’s the medical version of “watching paint dry.”
- Gossips. The emergency room and the ward is your live version of TMZ.
-
Smell of Clorox. This brings back ones’ young and carefree days. Whatever that means.

It’s been an anxiety-filled week and I’d like to thank everyone – God, relatives, neighbors & friends…and Spongebob – who supported us during this time. Marcus will be fine.

Mood: 4/10 Honks! (feels tired but needs to be in a meeting this afternoon.)
