I was on national TV

Mornings@ANC set. I’d love to be one of the cameramen.
In some weird twist of fate (or plainly, opportunity), yesterday, I find myself together with both strange and very familiar faces – the former were several guests like me while the latter are the hosts of Mornings@ANC. Yes, you read it right, I was on ANC. I was on national TV. And I was there despite the short notice from Arlene Burgos, who is among those behind ABS-CBN’s Boto Mo i-Patrol Mo (aka BMPM) program which is aimed at employing citizen’s journalism during this national election period to monitor whatever is happening around the Philippines.
What got me into being a guest though isn’t election-related which actually made me think for a moment if they’re calling the wrong person, but more than three follow ups later gave me a hint that I’m it. I soon learned from pre-interviews that they have the plan to extend the program of BMPM even after the May 10 election just like how their Citizen’s Patrol segment used to be. That is why I landed a spot as one of the guests because of the video I sent last December regarding a fire incident in our subdivision. So there goes the excited me inside the unexpectedly small Studio 6 of ABS-CBN, seated on the couch in front of the alien looking cameras and answering questions coming from surprisingly petite Gigi Grande and Ron Cruz.

That’s me on white shirt. (Image recorded by wifey without permission.Hahaha.)
The interview wasn’t that bad. It went casual than I expected it to be, although I felt quite uneasy knowing that behind those teleprompters are cameras shooting my slightest move and recording whatever I answer…and that it is broadcasted nationwide. The whole interview ended uneventful, or so I think. It was already at home when I saw what transpired and that I realized I’ve made a fool of myself by repeating the word I myself dread and consider as irritating – Actually. I just cannot believe that I’ve become a victim of public speaking’s pitfall. And “actually” I did. Ti abi. Karma. Gaba. Anyway, I saw/read friends congratulating (or they could by lying) my performance; and, just so I won’t be so hard on myself, I’ll take those compliments and pat myself on the back. After all, I may have gotten the message across…but then again, I may be wrong. Note to self: out of self-respect, do not watch another replay.

Trivia: @arleneburgos is my only twitter follower whom I was I able to talk to over the phone (other than my ex-colleagues, classmates & friends).

Arlene and I (hope she didn’t regret inviting me over).
